Carrots and cardiovascular disease.

Total cardiovascular disease: Data about total cardiovascular disease was provided by 2 cohorts. a protective effect against CVD death was found in one cohort of very small size (6), but no association with CVD risk was found in a cohort of moderate-large size (36).
Coronary heart disease: Data about coronary heart disease was provided by 2 cohorts. A significant protective effect against MI risk was found in one cohort of moderate-large size (10), but no association with IHD death was found in a cohort of small size (15).
Stroke: Data about stroke was provided by 1 cohort (16). No association was found with stroke death.

Conclusion: Some protective effects were found, but these differed among end points and were inconsistent. Inconclusive evidence was found for an association between carrots and CVD.
